tattoo you

if you're anything like us mama-chix, taking your very young child to a big crowded place like an amusement park is just plain scary. ok, let's be honest. taking your toddler to target requires the patience of a saint so the mere thought of going headlong into a day of lines and rides and sticky cotton-candy fingers is enough to send us running for the hills...or the spa. aside from the obvious challenge of taking a toddler well, anywhere, is the constant nagging fear that she'll find a way to wander off in the split second it takes for you to hand the cashier $15.00 for the giant, over-priced, lollipop she's now having for dinner. well, we can't give you another set of eyes...or an extra pair of hands...or your money back for that lollipop that ended up in the dirt next to the ferris wheel, but we may be able to give you a small piece of mind. mother and inventor michele welsh created these cool safety tats- temporary tattoos the child wears that indicate the number to call in case she pulls a houdini move. the tattoos simply read, if lost please call... and are personalized with your cell phone number. there are also allergy and in case of emergency tattoos. yes, you still have to push the stroller while holding the diaper bag, the doll she couldn't leave home without, her favorite blankie, her melting ice cream cone and her hand, but as an extra measure of safety (as toddlers are inexplicably good escape artists)...check out www.safetytats.com.

extra, extra, read all about it

if you are expecting your first baby, let's face it...your world is about to be rocked. and, being bombarded with advice is a part of pregnancy we don't necessarily...ummm, cherish. that said, there are some very well-written books on the market today that can really help parents-to-be prepare for their new arrivals. our resident preggofabulous "chick"offers these books as her 3 picks for best baby's-almost-here-and-we're-still-clueless pieces of literature:

1. the happiest baby on the block, by dr. harvey karp- covering topics such as colic, why babies cry and how to soothe a baby, this is an easy & interesting read that of course you won't ever need because your baby is not going to cry ;)

2. happy child, healthy sleep habits, by marc weissbluth- being deemed the "sleep bible" by some of our mama-chick friends, we're told..."don't give birth without it." check it out for yourself...and get more zzzzzz's.

3. girlfriend's guide to pregnancy: or everything your doctor won't tell you, by vicki iovine- fun, wise and witty. takes a sassy look at everything from cesareans to cellulite and puts it all in laywoman's terms. it's one giant "you go girl!" for the expectant mama.

topsy turvy

hey fellow mama chix! do your toddlers spill...well...everything, everywhere? we have just the thing. introducing Loopa, the amazing spill-resistant bowl! with an easy-to-hold outer rim and a rotating inner bowl, your tiny tykes can nosh to their hearts content without leaving a trail of cheerios across your newly vacuumed floor. ahhh, now we can all put down our dust busters and pick up our bon bons. or more likely, our dry cleaning, our children from pre-school, the laundry, a friend from the airport, the dog from the groomer, Thai food for dinner...

itz about time

so, you have this beautiful new baby. yay! it's a miracle! i'm so happy! now, what exactly do i do with said infant? how often should i feed him? what if i feed him too often? how often should he sleep? how often do i change him? how will i remember when he slept and when he ate and when I changed him? ahhhhhh! don't. you. worry. 2 chix has your back. one of our own pregnant "chix" received a gift that solves the post-baby combination pregnesia/sleep deprivation problem: ITZBEEN. this baby care timer was invented by a new mom and dad who, running on very few zzzz's, were too groggy and foggy to remember all the baby care details they needed to remember. the ITZBEEN comes with four timers for changing, feeding, napping and more. it even reminds you which "side" you last fed baby with. now you can put your pregnesia to much better use...like as the reason why you can't be trusted to be responsible for feeding the cat or calling your mother-in-law on a regular basis ;)

stay cozy

for those of us interested in bpa-free baby bottles, the issue has always been, well, the glass. what if the bottle slips out of my hand and breaks? what if it's too heavy or difficult for the baby to hold? never fear, 2 chix is here and we have a solution. jam tots carries these super cool, colorful pea pod bottle cozies that slip over glass baby bottles thus protecting them from breakage. and... since they are made of neoprene, the cozies act as insulators keeping beverages warmer longer (or cooler as may be the preference for a toddler). beauty and brains...what more could we ask for?
